Quality Control Engineer

This position shall act as the customer advocate and liaison for compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction through hosting surveillance audits and submitting customer required quality documentation. This position requires the ability to interpret and express customer requirements both direct product related as well as indirect process related.  This position requires skills in internal auditing, Root Cause/Corrective Action, help determining process improvement parameters, working knowledge of LEAN principles, understanding of performance metrics and statistical methods, and preparing reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.  The successful candidate must be personable and able to interact with peers, management, and various customers efficiently and effectively. Possess effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to identify, analyze data and generate required reports.

Candidate must have 6+ years of quality engineering experience, preferably within a defense environment, a solid understanding in interpreting engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or electrical schematics, as well as a strong understanding of quality management systems including ISO9001 and AS9100. Nationally recognized quality certification is desired, such as American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ-CQE) certification. Minimum of Green Belt certification is preferred. Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering or mechanical/industrial engineering required. Ability to obtain a security clearance is a must.  Additionally, the right candidate will need to participate and provide overall quality management guidance to team members with the goal of continuously improving the QMS. Must have a basic technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing; assess trends, team problem solving skills, and confidence to make fact-based recommendations and presentations for improvements/changes.

Quote Manager

The Quote Manager manages all aspects of providing quotations for Espey products to our customers and satisfying all customer needs prior to purchase order placement.  Responsibilities include:

  • Works with program management, sales management and directly with customers to receive requests for quote (RFQ’s) and initiate the quote process.
  • Initiate department personnel to acquire necessary costs in support of a customer RFQ
  • Enter customer and opportunity information into Espey’s ERP System, Epicor
  • Assign tasks and establish due dates for operations and engineering department deliverables.
  • Establish due dates for cost estimates to be complete from operations and engineering departments and enter them in into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system Epicor.
  • Initiate department personnel in review and acceptance of quality, Government and RFQ requirements for RFQ’s.
  • Provide Security Screening on companies and individuals not listed as a Tier 1 company, in support of customer RFQ’s and orders.
  • The main focal or POC between Espey and the customer in acquiring all necessary drawings and documentation in support of RFQ’s.
  • The main focal or POC in submittal and acquiring approval of all engineering generated ECN’s associated with a product.
  • The main focal or POC for customer returns for evaluation and repair including constant communication and the quoting of these repairs.
  • Initiate and schedule Cost and Price Review meetings in support of Espey quotes for customer RFQ’s.
  • Fill out customer forms and provide requested information. Follow strict guidelines in collecting department and management approvals and saving them in quote folders.
  • Uses Customer Relations Management (CRM) software (PipeDrive) for entry and maintenance of Espey quotes in support of sales forecasting.
  • Ensure quotations are delivered with all requested and necessary information.
  • Follow strict guidelines in collecting department and management approvals and saving them in quote folders.
  • Interface with sales, program managers and account managers to ensure quoted value, probability of win and expected award dates are accurate in Epicor and Pipedrive.
  • Maintains certifications and representation documents for customers.

The position will require becoming familiar with Espey departments, products and process. Communication skills and the ability to interface with multiple disciplines individually and in a team is required.  Innovation and suggestions on how to improve processes and procedures is be encouraged.  Requirements include: working as part of a cross functional team, data entry, MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, organization, teamwork and communication. Ability to learn manufacturing ERP system and CRM software, contract review, and gain electronic product knowledge.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering, or 3-5 years of related work experience required. Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills also required.

Program Manager- Production

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading teams to deliver project(s) that span across one or more business functional areas. Will manage resources, schedules, and financials adhering to company procedures and customer requirements throughout the production life cycle. This includes management of schedule, cost, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. The successful individual will also review and process all customer orders and change orders and will contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.  Will have the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis.

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience is required.  Excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers is also required. Candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting, contracts, supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing principles. An understanding of export regulations is beneficial. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work in a fast paced, high demand environment, be a self-starter and capable of working independently and with all departments to meet customer requirements.

Silkscreen Fabricator

Candidate will be required to make screens and apply art work as needed . Must have the ability to read prints.  Will use a specified chemical on the screen for the proper time. Must be able to check own work. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position entails keeping assigned areas of office and/or factory clean, including the washrooms. They will collect and dispose rubbish and ensure all assigned areas are free from clutter and safe. Candidate keeps entrances of assigned areas free of debris and snow during the winter.

Director of Operations

The Director of Operations reports directly to the President and CEO. This position is accountable for all Operational staff including day-to-day operation activities in Production, Supply Chain, Stock, Shipping and Receiving. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to provide leadership, clear direction, and mentoring to the Operations team. This position will regularly interface with stakeholders and collaborate with a variety of other functions, vendors, and customers in order to deliver program and company results that achieve business goals and objectives. The candidate must understand and execute to financial and production goals, by creating, maintaining, and reporting all budgets, forecasting, variances, costs, challenges, and controls to the necessary key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have proven operations management leadership experience in the defense market including the ability to successfully manufacture electronic components designed in-house for industrial and military applications. Have proven success leading operational teams and providing daily, hands-on knowledge of assembly, machine shop and test of electronic components. Will work closely with manufacturing engineering to implement and utilize lean principles and techniques to drive continuous improvement across the facility and reduce rework.

Qualifications – Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or other technically related field of study preferred. The candidate will bring strong leadership skills to effectively manage operations and employees, and will promote a quality oriented, cost conscious and motivated workforce. 8-10 years’ work experience in manufacturing management preferably in a process-oriented operation, in the electronic manufacturing environment (including planning, procurement, subcontract management, budgets, etc.). Have extensive experience working in an ERP environment. Experience with EPICOR 10 preferred. Experience with build to print manufacturing is a plus.

IT Technician

Candidate must have knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, MS Office and Basic Networking knowledge.  This position requires a desire to learn as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast paced team environment while ensuring accuracy. Candidate must be able to assist users in accessing, resolving, upgrading and repairing computer hardware and software problems. Desktop support responsibilities include providing support for PC’s to internal users either by telephone or desk-side, troubleshooting and repairing network issues, software installations and support, resolving hardware/software issues, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring user satisfaction. 2+ years of qualified IT experience preferred.  Experience with VMware, Firewall, ERP Systems, Windows servers, Microsoft Exchange also preferred.

Large Magnetics Assembly III

The successful candidate must accurately build transformers and other assemblies to prints, drawings, work instructions, travelers or other method of instruction with supervision. Must verify usable condition of all tools; ensure equipment calibration is valid prior to use, and use calibrated measuring devices to check dimensions to confirm assembly meets drawings and prints. Must setup and assemble cores and/or steel lamination and insulating separators into wound coils using banding, stacking, interleaving, and other techniques as required. Must prepare wire connections by forming, sanding, scraping, tinning, insulating and/or other methods for connection to terminals or other points of contact and also prepare surfaces using silicones or other surface treatments, as indicated by documentation. Utilize solder irons, torches, epoxies, and/or tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, pliers, clamps, etc.) to form and make connections, fasten metal objects together, and assemble parts to form units or subassembly parts, or mounts subassemblies on panel or in cabinet. Clean and inspect terminal connections for flaws and correct as needed. Assemble wires to terminals, lugs, and/or terminal boards utilizing crimping tools and other tools as needed. Must assemble or dis-assemble electronic components, mechanical components, subassemblies, and/or systems and make mechanical adjustments to work, including unit rework, repair or modifications.

Power Supply Design Engineer

The successful candidate possess a BSEE and have 5+ years experience and demonstrated ability in developing and supporting power supply designs and products for high reliability and military applications. Experience with power levels >1KW, AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC. The individual must understand and be able to develop switch-mode power supplies using various topologies and techniques to achieve an efficient, reliable, EMI/EMC compliant design. Experience with rugged/military designs, thermal packaging and layout of power electronics is required. Good writing and communication skills including technical presentations, technical write-ups, risk analysis, failure rate prediction and analysis, test procedures and reports, etc. are required. The candidate will be expected to thrive in a small company atmosphere where they will be involved with proposing solutions to customer specifications, through development, test and production support of power conversion products.

Sr. Strategic Sourcing Agent

Espey Manufacturing & Electronics is seeking a senior level, experienced buyer with knowledge of mechanical and electrical components. Basic knowledge of electronics parts and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) is beneficial.

  • Strategic Thinking, Planning, and Action to negotiate prices and terms with suppliers
  • Identify suppliers with respect to risk, cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  • Plans and manages materials to meet customer requirements and best support the company’s goals.
  • Audits suppliers’ facilities to evaluate them as sources and responsible for the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems. Requires travel.
  • Communicates the status of supplier scorecard to supply base and assures corrective and preventive action from underperforming suppliers.
  • Assists Strategic Sourcing Agents with questions, issues, & gives advice/direction when needed in various tasks.

Lead Solderer II

Must have the ability to read blue prints. Must have familiarity with hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers and soldering irons.  Ideal candidate has 1+ years of soldering experience.  Job duties include soldering components and terminal boards, as well as assembling fabricated metal items as specified by work orders.
