Electrical Test Engineer

Seeking a Test Engineer with experience working with transformer systems or related technologies (e.g. electromagnetics, induction systems, etc.), including recent experience with testing and troubleshooting of customized transformers.  The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing skills, including the ability to develop Acceptance Test Procedures (e.g. test set-ups, equipment selection, pass/fail criteria, test results), and the knowledge to develop department safety procedures. Must be skilled in the use of test equipment such as: oscilloscopes, power quality meters, insulation resistance tester, high potential tester, phase rotation meters, digital test equipment, data acquisition equipment, and other electrical test equipment. Will support test personnel to setup and complete required testing and will analyze existing test equipment to determine test setups. Will need to specify and recommend new test equipment when needed. Ideal candidate will provide technical support to customers and will act as the interface between Engineering and Production.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required and five years of previous experience is preferred.

Must have ability to obtain a secret security clearance.

QC Inspector

The successful candidate would inspect assemblies, subassemblies, and components to validate compliance with specifications, drawings, blueprints, production details, and governing inspection procedures and manuals. Must have a minimum of two years QC inspection experience with electrical and mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, circuit card assemblies, and miscellaneous parts. Candidate should be competent using calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and basic electrical meters. Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 is preferred.

Lead Solderer II/Assembler

Must have the ability to read blue prints. Must have familiarity with hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers and soldering irons.  Ideal candidate has 1+ years of soldering experience.  Job duties include soldering components and terminal boards, as well as assembling fabricated metal items as specified by work orders.

Firmware Engineer – Product Design

Works with a high performance team of engineers to design, develop and test high reliability and military electronic products. Previous experience developing and designing firmware for products or projects with embedded microprocessor control desired. Working knowledge of Texas Instruments C2000 Microcontrollers or similar TI parts and associated TI tools. Experience utilizing C++ programming languages, Code Composer Studio or Eclipse IDE. Subversion source code control system experience or equivalent like GitHub, Atlassian, …. Real-time operating system (RTOS) experience a plus. Experience implementing J1939 CAN communication buses on a microcontroller and the ability to create PC based GUI for communication testing of the CAN buses desired. Experience with PCAN-Basic or Explorer tools, or any CAN package from VECTOR, GUI: Microsoft Visual Studio. Experience with FPGAs, Microchip/Microsemi/Actel Libero suite and programming in VHDL. Design and programming of user displays using Red Loin Crimson 3.1 HMI IDE. Knowledgeable in the use of oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters and other hardware test equipment to support trouble shooting of the microcontroller interface. Ability to interpret hardware schematics and designs is required. Proficient software and hardware troubleshooting abilities. Hardware design skills to support microcontroller and FPGA circuit card design is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work utilizing customer specifications and interfacing with power engineers to determine the proper operation for the project is required. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and experience. Experience working at or with military requirements or military prime contractors utilizing customer specifications and interfacing with power electronics engineers is a plus.

Supervisor- Impregnation Dept.

Espey Mfg. & Electronics Corp. is currently seeking a Supervisor for the Impregnation department. The sucessful candidate will supervise and coordinate the activities of the employees who are responsible for encapsulating electrical and electronic parts, components, and assemblies with epoxy or plastic material to protect them from damage and deterioration. Will review production schedules to ascertain work load and prepare schedules and priorities for work. This candidate will be responsible for controlling and maintaining the material safety data sheets for the entire plant. Will design, plan layout, and oversee employees engaged in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment to carry out chemical processes.

Associates degree is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of related experience in electronics and/or a military setting is required. Should have training and experience in any or all of the following: epoxy compounds, plastics, varnish and oils, high temperature insulation, silicones, rubber compounding, molding techniques, electroplating, and ecology.

Strategic Sourcing Agent

Espey is currently seeking an experienced Supply Chain Professional with knowledge of mechanical and electrical components. Basic knowledge of electronics parts and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) is preferred.

Environmental Test Technician

Environmental Test Technician will perform tests on various electronic components. Will interpret and follow standard test methods (MIL, ASTM, etc.), customer purchase specifications, internal test procedures, work instructions, technical schematics, and engineering drawings to perform testing on products in production as well as qualification units and prototypes for risk mitigation. This includes mechanical/fluid test setups, electrical test setups, data acquisition equipment, thermocouples, transducers, controllers and control loops etc.
Testing types include but are not limited to:
• Shock and Vibration
• Thermal Shock and cyclic testing
• Humidity Exposure
• Impact
• Hydro-static leak testing
• Degree of enclosure testing
• Flow and pressure drop testing
• Salt Fog

Will collect and document detailed digital test data and related test setup information in an organized manner. Will maintain calibration of all related test equipment.
Must be able to work in noisy, hot or cold work areas on a daily basis. Prior experience using hand tools, power tools and manual machining equipment preferred.
High School Education is required. Associates degree preferred or previous related experience preferred.

Supplier Quality Control Engineer

Espey is currently seeking a Quality Control Engineer to interface with vendors for audits and surveillance.  Will be responsible for reviewing all POs before issuance to ensure required quality flow downs from customer PO to vendor are executed as well as communicating any First Article Inspections or special quality notes.  Will be the Quality Control liaison for vendor non-conformance and Corrective Action Reports.  Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience is preferred.

Electronics Tester

Electrical Engineer – Power Electronics Product Design

The successful candidate possess a BSEE and have 5+ years experience and demonstrated ability in developing and supporting power supply or power systems with embedded firmware. Experience with high reliability and military applications power levels >1KW, AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC desired. The individual must understand and assist in the development of switch-mode power supplies.

A background in new product development for embedded microprocessor based systems with experience developing and designing of firmware for electronics to provide control of hardware based power systems is required. Will require a working knowledge of the TI TMS320F28335 microcontroller or similar TI part and associated TI tools. Experience with J1939 CAN communication and the ability to create PC based GUI for communication testing of communication buses needed. Must be knowledgeable in the use of oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters and other hardware test equipment to support trouble shooting of the microcontroller and hardware interfaces. Ability to interpret hardware schematics and designs is required. Successful candidate will have proficient software and hardware troubleshooting abilities. Ability to work utilizing customer specifications and interfacing with power engineers to determine the proper operation of the project is required. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and experience working at or with military requirements or military prime contractors is preferred.  Experience with rugged/military designs, thermal packaging and layout of power electronics is preferred. Good writing and communication skills including technical presentations, technical write-ups, analysis, test procedures and reports, etc. are required. Quality Control Engineer

This position shall act as the customer advocate and liaison for compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction through hosting surveillance audits and submitting customer required quality documentation. This position requires the ability to interpret and express customer requirements both direct product related as well as indirect process related.  This position requires skills in internal auditing, Root Cause/Corrective Action, help determining process improvement parameters, working knowledge of LEAN principles, understanding of performance metrics and statistical methods, and preparing reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.  The successful candidate must be personable and able to interact with peers, management, and various customers efficiently and effectively. Possess effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to identify, analyze data and generate required reports.

Candidate must have 6+ years of quality engineering experience, preferably within a defense environment, a solid understanding in interpreting engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or electrical schematics, as well as a strong understanding of quality management systems including ISO9001 and AS9100. Nationally recognized quality certification is desired, such as American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ-CQE) certification. Minimum of Green Belt certification is preferred. Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering or mechanical/industrial engineering required. Ability to obtain a security clearance is a must.  Additionally, the right candidate will need to participate and provide overall quality management guidance to team members with the goal of continuously improving the QMS. Must have a basic technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing; assess trends, team problem solving skills, and confidence to make fact-based recommendations and presentations for improvements/changes.

Power Supply Design Engineer

The successful candidate possess a BSEE and have 5+ years experience and demonstrated ability in developing and supporting power supply designs and products for high reliability and military applications. Experience with power levels >1KW, AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC. The individual must understand and be able to develop switch-mode power supplies using various topologies and techniques to achieve an efficient, reliable, EMI/EMC compliant design. Experience with rugged/military designs, thermal packaging and layout of power electronics is required. Good writing and communication skills including technical presentations, technical write-ups, risk analysis, failure rate prediction and analysis, test procedures and reports, etc. are required.
