Lead Solderer Repair

Perform mechanical assembly and disassembly of power supplies and other electro-mechanical devices. Unsolder and solder components to repair printed circuit boards and other devices. Research and order parts required to complete the needed repairs. Incorporate items and requirements, as specified by work orders, diagrams, layout, or other data. This position does require extra training, certification and annual re-certification.

Expeditor

Espey is currently seeking an Expeditor to join our team. The Expeditor is responsible for handling the RMA process and ensuring timely delivery of parts to the production floor. Responsibilities will include:   Weekly scheduling reviews with various vendors to ensure deliveries are shipped and received according to the established commitments; Ensuring the First Article Testing acknowledgement is completed within the time constraints allowed ensuring that the overall production schedule is not impacted; Contacting vendors to requisition materials; Arranging for distribution of materials upon arrival; Maintaining the “sub-contract status” report showing material scheduled to be shipped to various sub/contractors; Communicating across the organization any vendor issues that may affect production and delivery to the customer.  Mitigate as much as possible all issues to remain on schedule.

Environmental Test Technician

Environmental Test Technician will perform tests on various electronic components. Will interpret and follow standard test methods (MIL, ASTM, etc.), customer purchase specifications, internal test procedures, work instructions, technical schematics, and engineering drawings to perform testing on products in production as well as qualification units and prototypes for risk mitigation. This includes mechanical/fluid test setups, electrical test setups, data acquisition equipment, thermocouples, transducers, controllers and control loops etc.
Testing types include but are not limited to:
• Shock and Vibration
• Thermal Shock and cyclic testing
• Humidity Exposure
• Impact
• Hydro-static leak testing
• Degree of enclosure testing
• Flow and pressure drop testing
• Salt Fog

Will collect and document detailed digital test data and related test setup information in an organized manner. Will maintain calibration of all related test equipment.
Must be able to work in noisy, hot or cold work areas on a daily basis. Prior experience using hand tools, power tools and manual machining equipment preferred.

Stock Clerk

The Stock Clerk will effectively manage daily inventory control.  Responsibilities include: Pulling necessary material out of stock by following each verbal or printed request, pick list, material transfer, etc. using the FIFO (First In First Out) method; properly maintaining paperwork for shortages and the transfer or issuance of stock material; ensuring materials are stored in an orderly and accessible manner and keeping similar parts in the same area within the stockroom; counting material using a scale to verify amount and match it to the printed request or verbal instruction; bag and tag the material to ensure proper labeling; deliver material to the proper department and obtain necessary signatures; assist in counting of physical inventory. Will be responsible for entering information from various paperwork sources into a database system to generate the appropriate corresponding transaction. Will also use a database system to research discrepancies, answer questions regarding materials, and route incoming material to the correct location (stock bin or production department).

Potter

Will be required to position module or transformer case under outlet of tank containing encapsulation fluid. Moves controls to force preset amount of fluid through opening in module or transformer case.   Will place components on rack, dip rack in encapsulating fluid and hand rack on drying frame or in oven to harden sealing compound. Must weigh out quantities of powered or liquid dyes and chemicals, following formula sheet.  EOE

Manufacturing Engineer

Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Will be responsible for transitioning products from engineering to production to ensure seamless flow; supporting manufacturing as the first point of contact for electrical and electrical components issues encountered during production builds. Acting as a liaison to engage the customer and Espey engineering department as needed. Will interact with customers (both internal and external) to ensure all processes and documentation are maintained and approved to current build requirement revisions. Will also ensure product and process quality by designing and implementing fixtures and processes that are repeatable. Develops and maintains work instructions to ensure consistent high quality reproducibility. Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment. Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment. Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required with 3-5 years of related experience preferred.

Electrical Engineer- Nuclear Vessels

The successful candidate will be a part of a growing cross-functional team, developing instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, rod control system and other reactor plant systems, including integrating the electrical power systems by using his/her technical knowledge of design, testing and operation of shipboard electrical systems.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to generic I&C systems, integrated power systems, power electronics, and shipboard information systems to the overall efforts of the unit electrical circuit analysis to optimize electronic equipment, designs and develops custom circuits, testing or qualification of units. Coordinates electrical activities such as testing, fabrication, and general product quality improvement by performing the following duties.

Will required to research and analyze data such as customer design proposal and specifications to determine feasibility of design or application. Will also be required to provide succinct summaries, both oral and written of proposed and completed work; Frequently interact with other units at customer sites and Shipyards.

Transformer Design Engineer

The Transformer Design Engineer is responsible for the design of new transformers from conception to full scale production.  Develop estimates based on customer Statements of Work (SOW) and performance specifications.  Work directly with production, program management office, quality, and other departments as technical advisor to maintain product flow and positive customer relations.  Project development cycles range from a few weeks to over a year depending on the product type and scope of project. Team member’s roles are defined uniquely for each project, with experienced engineers sometimes assuming role of Project Lead based on engineer’s interests and capabilities. Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably with at least 5 years of experience in transformer and magnetic devices is required. Experience in ruggedized products for Military applications is a plus. Experience in designs with BIL requirements up to 15kV class and knowledge of dry type transformers up to 5MVA, preferred. Knowledge of ANSI/IEEE standards and experience with military standards such as MIL-E-917 is also preferred.

Magnetics Design Engineer

The Magnetics Design Engineer is responsible for the design of new products from conception up to full production.  Will support and implement AC Power electronics products that support high reliability AC/DC converter systems including but not limited to  transformers, filters and energy storage devices from PC board mount to kilowatt classes.  Develop estimates based on customer Statements of Work (SOW) and performance specifications.  Work directly with all departments as technical advisor to improve product flow.  Team members role’s are defined uniquely for each project, including roles as project lead depending on the interest and capability of the individual.  There is opportunity for growth and development of coworkers and supporting staff to improve internal capabilities.  Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field, preferably with at least 10 years of experience in transformer and magnetic devices is required.  Diverse knowledge of transformer and inductor core types and applications from DC to MHz applications  and the ability to work with both 60 and 400Hz fundamental frequency’s as well as SMPS frequency applications is required. Experience in Aerospace/high reliability environments including MIL-PRF-27 devices is preferred. Must meet eligibility requirements for access to export controlled data.

Quality Control Inspector

Lead Solderer II

Must have the ability to read blue prints. Must have familiarity with hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers and soldering irons.  Ideal candidate has 1+ years of soldering experience.  Job duties include soldering components and terminal boards, as well as assembling fabricated metal items as specified by work orders.

Impregnator

  • Must be comfortable with use and mixing of varnishes, solvents, sealants, oils, coatings, and epoxies.
  • Tasks include dipping, encapsulating, applying, and submerging assemblies in varnishes, coatings, transformer oil, and encapsulants.
  • Requires safety glasses at all times, and may require use of safety apparatus such as gloves, hot-mitts, apron, respirator, or dust mask.

  • Able to set operating parameters and time intervals of ovens, vacuum chambers, and vacuum pumps.
  • Preparing product for processing by installing fixtures and/or clamping devices as well as application of masking and mold-release compounds.
  • Cleaning fixtures and associated hardware, plates, and trays as required.
  • Cleaning of product post-processing in order to remove excess varnish, resin, epoxy, and encapsulants.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, ovens, vacuum chambers, and overall department area.
  • Maintaining equipment logs and maintenance records.
  • Use of computer for clocking in and out, logging in and out of job operations, and taking counts for completed tasks. Must add notes for explanation as required.

Production Test Supervisor

Espey Mfg. & Electronics Corp. is currently seeking a Production Test Supervisor.  The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of workers engaged in testing finished and semi-finished products as well as leading the in-house service team to determine if physical properties meet manufacturing specifications.  Will be supervising the team that is responsible for designing, building, troubleshooting, maintaining and supporting production test equipment, ATEs, facilities, and test cells. Will review production schedules to ascertain work load and prepare schedules and priorities for work.

CNC Programmer/Operator

Must have experience with operating CNC milling machines, selecting and setting up tools (end mills, drills, taps and other tools). Power Supply Design Engineer

The successful candidate possess a BSEE and have 5+ years experience and demonstrated ability in developing and supporting power supply designs and products for high reliability and military applications. Experience with power levels >1KW, AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC. Electrical Engineer

Espey is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in electronic power conversion or distribution assemblies, preferably military rugged electronic assemblies and with test and troubleshooting experience.  Must be familiar with electronic components, such as transformers, capacitors, resistors, semiconductor devices and assemblies used in electronic equipment.  Software/Firmware design experience, embedded microprocessor controlled systems experience and PLC Programming or Lab-View Experience is preferred. The ability to interpret hardware schematics and designs is required.

The Electrical Engineer will work with product design engineers to develop and document plans and procedures to verify compliance to customer specifications. Will  be responsible for incorporating electrical design verification portions of procedures that have been written by design engineers into procedure documents. Responsibilities will also include developing plans for sequence and location of testing; obtaining quotes for outsourced tests as well as scheduling and coordinating testing.

Additional responsibilities will include: designing, building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing test fixtures, cables and test setups. Will also work with programmable data acquisition systems, PC based Data Logging and programmable power supplies and load banks.

Large Magnetics Assembly III

The successful candidate must accurately build transformers and other assemblies to prints, drawings, work instructions, travelers or other method of instruction with supervision. Must verify usable condition of all tools; ensure equipment calibration is valid prior to use, and use calibrated measuring devices to check dimensions to confirm assembly meets drawings and prints. Must setup and assemble cores and/or steel lamination and insulating separators into wound coils using banding, stacking, interleaving, and other techniques as required. Must prepare wire connections by forming, sanding, scraping, tinning, insulating and/or other methods for connection to terminals or other points of contact and also prepare surfaces using silicones or other surface treatments, as indicated by documentation. Utilize solder irons, torches, epoxies, and/or tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, pliers, clamps, etc.) to form and make connections, fasten metal objects together, and assemble parts to form units or subassembly parts, or mounts subassemblies on panel or in cabinet. Clean and inspect terminal connections for flaws and correct as needed. Assemble wires to terminals, lugs, and/or terminal boards utilizing crimping tools and other tools as needed. Must assemble or dis-assemble electronic components, mechanical components, subassemblies, and/or systems and make mechanical adjustments to work, including unit rework, repair or modifications.
