Lead Solderer II/Assembler

Must have the ability to read blue prints. Must have familiarity with hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers and soldering irons.  Ideal candidate has 1+ years of soldering experience.  Job duties include soldering components and terminal boards, as well as assembling fabricated metal items as specified by work orders.

Firmware Engineer – Product Design

Works with a high performance team of engineers to design, develop and test high reliability and military electronic products. Previous experience developing and designing firmware for products or projects with embedded microprocessor control desired. Working knowledge of Texas Instruments C2000 Microcontrollers or similar TI parts and associated TI tools. Experience utilizing C++ programming languages, Code Composer Studio or Eclipse IDE. Subversion source code control system experience or equivalent like GitHub, Atlassian, …. Real-time operating system (RTOS) experience a plus. Experience implementing J1939 CAN communication buses on a microcontroller and the ability to create PC based GUI for communication testing of the CAN buses desired. Experience with PCAN-Basic or Explorer tools, or any CAN package from VECTOR, GUI: Microsoft Visual Studio. Experience with FPGAs, Microchip/Microsemi/Actel Libero suite and programming in VHDL. Paint Sprayer

The ideal candidate will have minimum 2 years’ work experience in industrial paint spraying of manufactured products. Candidate must be familiar with the entire finishing process including preparation of work surface, selection and mixing of coating to produce desired viscosity, maintenance and cleaning of all spray equipment including HVLP paint guns, housekeeping and organization of work area. The expectation is that work will be performed in a consistent manner to cover product quickly and evenly with appropriate coating. The ability to read drawings, bill of materials, and specifications is a plus. This position may lift 35 to 50 lbs. consistently throughout the day. Use of respirator is required and candidate must pass a respirator fit test.

Electrical Engineer – Power Electronics Product Design

The successful candidate possess a BSEE and have 5+ years experience and demonstrated ability in developing and supporting power supply or power systems with embedded firmware. Experience with high reliability and military applications power levels >1KW, AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC desired. The individual must understand and assist in the development of switch-mode power supplies.

A background in new product development for embedded microprocessor based systems with experience developing and designing of firmware for electronics to provide control of hardware based power systems is required. Will require a working knowledge of the TI TMS320F28335 microcontroller or similar TI part and associated TI tools. Experience with J1939 CAN communication and the ability to create PC based GUI for communication testing of communication buses needed. Quality Control Engineer

This position shall act as the customer advocate and liaison for compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction through hosting surveillance audits and submitting customer required quality documentation. This position requires the ability to interpret and express customer requirements both direct product related as well as indirect process related.  This position requires skills in internal auditing, Root Cause/Corrective Action, help determining process improvement parameters, working knowledge of LEAN principles, understanding of performance metrics and statistical methods, and preparing reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.  The successful candidate must be personable and able to interact with peers, management, and various customers efficiently and effectively. Possess effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to identify, analyze data and generate required reports.

Candidate must have 6+ years of quality engineering experience, preferably within a defense environment, a solid understanding in interpreting engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or electrical schematics, as well as a strong understanding of quality management systems including ISO9001 and AS9100. Nationally recognized quality certification is desired, such as American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ-CQE) certification. Minimum of Green Belt certification is preferred. Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering or mechanical/industrial engineering required. Ability to obtain a security clearance is a must.  Additionally, the right candidate will need to participate and provide overall quality management guidance to team members with the goal of continuously improving the QMS. Printed Circuit Board Designer

Espey is currently looking for a Printed Circuit Board Designer to design and develop printed circuit boards. Job responsibilities include the following:

· Proficiency in use of computer aided drafting (CAD) programs tailored to printed circuit board design such as PADs, KICAD, Altium, etc.

· Generate documents and electronic files such as schematics, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, bills of materials, gerber files for circuit card fabrication, and pick and place files for circuit card component population and assembly.

· Draft layouts for standard and dense, hi-speed, multi-layer boards, mixed through hole and surface mount layouts, and high current, high voltage, high power switching designs.

· Assist design engineers with component selection suitable for circuit design and layout requirements.

· Work with design engineers’ circuit simulation schematics and other design input to produce documentation for prototype and evaluation circuit boards.

· Create new part and component files and maintain electronic part library.

· Process changes to printed circuit boards, circuit card assemblies and associated electronic files, and create change notice documentation for change review and approval

· Participate in engineering peer reviews of schematic and circuit card design and layout to verify designs meet requirements.

Previous experience with electrical components and electronic circuit operation and PCB layout is required. Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering is preferred.

Test Engineer

Seeking a Test Engineer with experience working with transformer systems or related technologies (e.g. electromagnetics, induction systems, etc.), including recent experience with testing and troubleshooting of customized transformers.  The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing skills, including the ability to develop Acceptance Test Procedures (e.g. test set-ups, equipment selection, pass/fail criteria, test results), and the knowledge to develop department safety procedures. Must be skilled in the use of test equipment such as: oscilloscopes, power quality meters, insulation resistance tester, high potential tester, phase rotation meters, digital test equipment, data acquisition equipment, and other electrical test equipment. Will support test personnel to setup and complete required testing and will analyze existing test equipment to determine test setups. Will need to specify and recommend new test equipment when needed. Ideal candidate will provide technical support to customers and will act as the interface between Engineering and Production.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required and five years of previous experience is preferred.

Stock Clerk

The Stock Clerk will effectively manage daily inventory control.  Responsibilities include: Pulling necessary material out of stock by following each verbal or printed request, pick list, material transfer, etc. using the FIFO (First In First Out) method; properly maintaining paperwork for shortages and the transfer or issuance of stock material; ensuring materials are stored in an orderly and accessible manner and keeping similar parts in the same area within the stockroom; counting material using a scale to verify amount and match it to the printed request or verbal instruction; bag and tag the material to ensure proper labeling; deliver material to the proper department and obtain necessary signatures; assist in counting of physical inventory. Will be responsible for entering information from various paperwork sources into a database system to generate the appropriate corresponding transaction. Will also use a database system to research discrepancies, answer questions regarding materials, and route incoming material to the correct location (stock bin or production department).

Supplier Quality Control Engineer

Espey is currently seeking a Quality Control Engineer to interface with vendors for audits and surveillance.  Will be responsible for reviewing all POs before issuance to ensure required quality flow downs from customer PO to vendor are executed as well as communicating any First Article Inspections or special quality notes.  Will be the Quality Control liaison for vendor non-conformance and Corrective Action Reports.  Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience is preferred.

Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Espey is currently looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer. Responsibilities will include:  Design and analysis of electro-mechanical assemblies for high and low voltage electronic military and industrial equipment; Performing structural, thermal, and fluid analysis to optimize electronic equipment.  Designing and developing custom fixtures to assist in manufacturing, testing or qualification of units; Coordinating mechanical activities such as drawing package completions, fabrication, and general product quality improvement; preparing design sketches and figures for presentations, quotes, and documents for sales/contracts; interfacing with customers, including design reviews, whitepapers, and design presentations; reviewing and approving drawing packages; interfacing with vendors and sales personnel.  Should have experience with high reliability equipment and mechanical qualification such as shock and vibration and experience with packaging dense power electronics for rugged environments.   Bachelor’s Degree is required. 10+ year of previous experience is preferred. Willingness to act as a mentor preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Familiarity with SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, FloWorks, and MS-Office is also preferred.

Engineering Test Specialist

The successful candidate will complete test setup, troubleshooting, data collection and analysis; drafts and submits test reports for customer submittals. Will produce, review and edit documentation such as work instructions, ATPs, QTPs, safety protocols, workflow diagrams and test cell SOPs.  Will be responsible for determining test requirements to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, monitor, and operate high voltage electrical systems including, but not limited to, transformers, switching stations, circuit breakers and stored energy systems.  Will review and analyze a variety of engineering data, proposals, customer specifications, documents, and reports to determine testing requirements and will then provide input into proposals as needed.  The Engineering Test Specialist consults with design engineers to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application, and recommend revisions, as appropriate.  Will regularly interface with Engineering, Production, and with customers.

Bachelors degree or related equivalent experience is preferred.  Previous experience with the use of test equipment such as: oscilloscopes, power quality meters, insulation resistance testers, high potential testers, phase rotation meters and digital test equipment is required.  Experience in troubleshooting electrical circuits, circuit boards and systems is also required.  Some travel will be required, up to 10% annually.

Supply Chain Subcontract Specialist

Espey is currently looking to add a Subcontract Specialist to our growing team.  The Subcontract Specialist will coordinate the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization. Will coordinate all activities related to the procurement of a subcontract beginning with intent to purchase all the way through delivery. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Analyzing the requirements of the subcontract, soliciting and evaluating proposals for the requested commodity; investigating and/or interviewing potential suppliers and their facility to determine if they meet the specified requirements; and advising team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be used and negotiating the lowest possible cost for the subcontract balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.  Will be required to assure that the subcontract is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company. The ideal candidate will work closely with Quality Control to ensure suppliers utilized are Quality approved suppliers and are responsive to all Quality Control communications. Will also be responsible for researching any disputes and bringing them to resolution and will work closely with Purchasing Manager with respect to all pertinent matters concerning the organization, project budgets, procedures and the supplier management relationship.
